Employment & Training Campaign
At the Founding Assembly, 30 August 2017, we launched our campaign for better EMPLOYMENT & VOCATIONAL TRAINING.
You can read our Research Action Team's Report and see the video below.
Take Action Now:
-
Attend our Employment Forum on 17th Sept 4 for 4.30-6.30pm. We're bringing people together to share stories, develop a common vision and commit to action.
If you have a story or a passion about quality work we need you! Whether it's about getting work, keeping a job, exploitation at work, and the need for quality training that leads to quality employment.
-
Sign our petition asking Minister Shannon Fentiman to restore quality and public confidence in vocational training in Qld.
-
Download our Issues Survey and distribute it in your organisation to gather stories and recruit people to take action.
What we've won so far:
-
New Labour Hire Inspectors to expose exploitative employment practices for Qld’s most vulnerable workers.
-
A commitment to particularly targeting these inspectors to contract cleaning, seasonal farm work and hospitality.
-
The establishment of a new government-led apprenticeship program under Qld Government's Building Asset Services.
-
Changes to implementation of Schools Solar program that ensure procurement policies will be triggered and extra apprentices are employed.

The Queensland Community Alliance launched two state-wide campaigns at the Founding Assembly.
The Care Campaign is looking for solutions to the quality and delivery of aged care, mental health care, disability care and the transition for people to the NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme).
You can join the Care Campaign team and play an active role, share the campaign with your community, share your personal story or simply stay informed with what's happening.
The Employment & Training Campaign wants an end to worker exploitation, particularly for vulnerable workers, and affordable and high quality vocational training for all.
You can join the Employment & Training team and play an active role, share the campaign with your community, share your personal story or simply stay informed with what's happening.
In late 2017 we held an 'all in' Campaign Action Planning event to work on the next steps with both campaigns.
And while you're here...watch a video of what it's like to be part of a campaign and work together for the common good.
