Petition To: Lord Mayor Quirk and Dr Lynham

We ask: Step in to solve Hamilton Rd intersection

As people who work and live in Stafford and Chermside, we ask Lord Mayor Graham Quirk and Dr Anthony Lynham to solve the road safety issue on Hamilton Rd at exit of The Prince Charles Hospital.

Council and State Government have passed the buck on this issue for more than 10 years. Solita Honario was tragically killed at the intersection last year. And 65% of staff surveyed have been involved in or witnessed a near miss at this intersection.

We are residents, hospital staff, and community members all standing together to say that this needs to be fixed now.

We want a solution that involves:
1. Traffic lights.
2. Work started this year.

We don't care who pays. We just want it fixed so that we can all enjoy safe streets.

It is exceptionally dangerous if you need to turn right at this intersection.

Staff from Wesley Mission Chermside that come out of Xenith ave, or Western ave, also become embroiled in the traffic chaos at that time.

We’d prefer safer roads for our commute to our school and place of work! The traffic is horrendous and unsafe!

I agree this is a dangerous intersection. Traffic lights may be an option but cars turning left should be able to Turn Left on Red After Stopping to minimise the queues out of the hospital at peak times. Also during off peak times the lights should be sensor driven to reduce unnecessary stopping for cars on Hamilton Road.

Something needs to be done. Always dread leaving after picking my son up from daycare due to the chaotic traffic conditions.
