Partner Profile - Amnesty International

Why is your organisation a member of the Alliance?

Amnesty International is a member of the QLD Community Alliance because the more that people stand together in solidarity to fight for change, the more inevitable it is that we achieve it.

We also know that a community organising approach to engaging with local communities on local issues is vital, and the Queensland Community Alliance are strong advocates for this.

Why is your organisation a member of the Alliance?

Amnesty International is a member of the QLD Community Alliance because the more that people stand together in solidarity to fight for change, the more inevitable it is that we achieve it.

We also know that a community organising approach to engaging with local communities on local issues is vital and the QLD Community Alliance are strong advocates for this.

Why is it important for the voices of your members/community to be heard?

Because there is still a lot of work to be done to ensure that the human rights of all Queenslanders are protected.

What does a Queensland more in line with your organisations values look like?

We want to see all Queenslanders standing up and championing the human rights of all people and a state government that fights to protect the rights of all Queenslanders.

Why does your organisation believe in a stronger civil society that holds government and the market to account?

Amnesty International has always been comprised of everyday people holding those in power to account. Change always begins in the community, is fought for by the community and eventually won because of the community.

We will continue to work to empower everyday people to stand up against those that would take away our rights and that abuse the rights of others.
