Why is your organisation a member of the Alliance?
Edmund Rice Camps works with a variety of children and families in our society experiencing social disadvantage. We believe that by growing the capacity of organisations in the sector, and together with other Alliance members, we can improve the quality of life for so many among our local communities.
Why is it important for the voices of your members/community to be heard?
We represent two key stakeholders in society -- disadvantaged families and young adult students.
Both are often misunderstood and unheard. It is our job to remain their strong advocate.
What does a Queensland more in line with your organisations' values look like?
We'd like to see a Queensland where there's a greater impact from services on a child's welfare.
We'd also like to see young people recognise that they can have a valuable career in the social justice sector. We'd like to see a greater opportunity for youth being able to access or engage with social justice issues, including career opportunities.
Why does your organisation believe in a stronger civil society that holds government and the market to account?
In a society where we are governed and dictated by government, it is our duty of care to the famileis on the outer that calls us to hold the deciding sectors accountable.
