Why is your organisation a member of the Alliance?
Logan Anglican Parish is a member because we want to contribute to the common good. We appreciate that we have more power to change things when we work in partnership with other values-based organisations committed to the common good. Our faith in God gives us both a commitment to justice for all and the conviction that justice is possible.
Why is it important for the voices of your members/community to be heard?
We are members of the community. Our members experience the same pressures as everyone else. So we want to be part of building the community of the future with everyone else.
The Christian communities have a long memory and a long experience of trying to live well in various circumstances. We also know that sometimes we have been part of the problem. We believe that history gives us an important perspective on building community now.
What does a Queensland more in line with your organisations values look like?
Jesus said, "no one can serve God and money". An early saint said that ,'the glory of God is a human being fully alive'. We put those two quotes together to give us a vision for justice. We would like to be part of a Queensland where people matter more than profits. Sometimes you just have to choose what matters. For God's sake, we choose people.
Why does your organisation believe in a stronger civil society that holds government and the market to account?
See above...
