Why is your organisation a member of the Alliance?

Members of The Services Union work every day to build our community and to provide high-quality public and community services.

The Services Union is proud to join with like-minded organisations to ensure positive real change occurs in Queensland workplaces and communities.

Why is it important for the voices of your members/community to be heard?

Members of The Services Union are frontline staff and managers in local authorities, and industries including: electricity, water, rail, travel, ports and shipping, community services, information technology, airlines and the private clerical sector.

Our members deliver essential services to Queenslanders every day and understand the issues affecting communities first hand. The Services Union not only advocates for the working rights and conditions of members, it also lobbies to ensure the funding and support of essential services.

What does a Queensland more in line with your organisations values look like?

We strive for a Queensland where all people regardless of age, gender, race or  geography can have secure employment with fair and just wages and conditions, and access high quality community services.

Why does your organisation believe in a stronger civil society that holds government and the market to account?

The Services Union believes in Fairness, Justice, Democracy, Dignity, Equality and Collectivism.

All employees have the right to the dignity of safe and secure work. Our vision is for a strong, courageous and collective voice to continually improve the working conditions and the culture of our workplaces and communities in Queensland.

No matter who is in government, The Services Union believes in holding decision makers to account to ensure working people get a fair return for the work they provide for Queensland communities.
