From Stories to Issues: Alliance Discernment Part 1

Join our next steps - working together for the Common Good.

We have listened, and now we are inviting you into collective discernment about the future direction of the Queensland Community Alliance.   Join us at our online forum on 6th August, 6.30-8pm.

For the first half of 2026 our Alliance has been in Listening mode!

In 15 Listening Actions across Queensland we have built local connections, grown leadership and shared stories of the pressures on ourselves, our families and communities.

Join us to hear the outcomes of the  Listening Campaign, connect on the stories that moved us, and begin identifying that next steps that will strengthen our Alliance and achieve meaningful change.

This online Discernment Forum will be the place to raise and discuss ideas for action, before we come back together for an upcoming face-to-face Discernment Gathering (date TBC) where we will make decisions together.

Over this 2026 Discernment Period, we are inviting leaders to form teams on issues that came from listening which could become part of the Qld Community Alliance Agenda.

There will be 2 categories of issues:

1. Continuing Priorities

2. Emerging Issues for Exploration

1. Continuing Priorities

The issues which will continue as priorities for our Alliance are:

- Connected Communities - including 'The Queensland Way.'

- Climate, Cost of Living and Secure Jobs - including Renew Australia for All.

- Safety at Work - including job insecurity, workplace safety and racial discrimination.

- First Nations Justice and Solidarity - starting with building relationships and understanding.

For each of these we were testing the energy and stories for continuing action.  There was strong energy and the Leaders Council has approved them as ongoing action priorities.

2. Emerging Issues for Exploration

There are also emerging issues in the listening that have not been previous action priorities.

We are inviting each person attending the online Discernment Forum to indicate interest in exploring organising on a particular issue outside of the three Continuing Priorities listed above.

In our online Discernment on 6th August there will be an opportunity to share these new ideas and test interest.  This is a process of exploring and investigating, so we want to be clear that the Alliance will not act on all of these issues or ideas. To propose a new area to explore for action, please fill out this form before 5pm Wednesday 5 August.
