Petition To: Lord Mayor Quirk and Dr Lynham

We ask: Step in to solve Hamilton Rd intersection

As people who work and live in Stafford and Chermside, we ask Lord Mayor Graham Quirk and Dr Anthony Lynham to solve the road safety issue on Hamilton Rd at exit of The Prince Charles Hospital.

Council and State Government have passed the buck on this issue for more than 10 years. Solita Honario was tragically killed at the intersection last year. And 65% of staff surveyed have been involved in or witnessed a near miss at this intersection.

We are residents, hospital staff, and community members all standing together to say that this needs to be fixed now.

We want a solution that involves:
1. Traffic lights.
2. Work started this year.

We don't care who pays. We just want it fixed so that we can all enjoy safe streets.

My daughter works in this hospital precinct and has to use the exit in question, and her safety in doing so concerns me greatly. I lived in Brisbane for many years and experienced for myself the danger this issue poses to her and every other motorist exiting the precinct onto Hamilton Road, especially ones who have to turn right! I consider it a disgrace that it has taken a death before any chance of a remedy may be possible.

I have had several near misses exiting and entering TPCH, my place of employment, from the Hamilton Rd entrance. This is a very busy entrance to a major hospital and is unsafe. It should be a road safely priority

I’m quite saddened to see that a petition has to be undertaken to make our community safer especially given what has already occurred.

As a previous staff member I used to be scared every day at this terrible intersection. I saw so many near misses and witnessed a few accidents. Traffic lights are well overdue!!

Every day I go to work and go home fear this intersection and having an accident. It’s busy and frustrating and no one wants to give way or slow down. Only solution is traffic lights to enforce people to follow the road rules.

As a staff member at St Vincent’s Northside, I witness near misses on a daily basis at this intersection. It is extremely dangerous and I don’t want there to be any more accidents.
