Petition To: Lord Mayor Quirk and Dr Lynham

 

We ask: Step in to solve Hamilton Rd intersection

As people who work and live in Stafford and Chermside, we ask Lord Mayor Graham Quirk and Dr Anthony Lynham to solve the road safety issue on Hamilton Rd at exit of The Prince Charles Hospital.

Council and State Government have passed the buck on this issue for more than 10 years. Solita Honario was tragically killed at the intersection last year. And 65% of staff surveyed have been involved in or witnessed a near miss at this intersection.

We are residents, hospital staff, and community members all standing together to say that this needs to be fixed now.

We want a solution that involves:
1. Traffic lights.
2. Work started this year.

We don't care who pays. We just want it fixed so that we can all enjoy safe streets.

    I work at TPCH, and use that exit regularly. It is horrendous for pedestrians (bus stops on both sides) within 100m of the driveway. Please do something before more tragedies occur?

    Appalled that someone has died and still there is no commitment to help prevent this happening again! It is such a dangerous intersection. Get it done!

    My wif e is nurse at TPCH whoregularly uses this exit. I do not want her to be risking her life every time she leaves her place of employment

    I am a regular patient of the hospital and I often see near misses on that road. It needs to change before people die.

    How horrifically disgusting and disgraceful that it has taken this tragedy – the loss of a nurse! – for beaurocrats to contemplate the obviously necessary. Shame on you all, and you’d better make the appropriate efforts to redeem yourselves and get this fixed now, albeit too late #bloodonyourhands
